Rule #1 In Politics...

The $1.1 trillion spending bill passed through the House Wednesday by a 359-67 vote.  The Senate is expected to act on the bill by week’s end.
Traditionally, the Speaker of the House rarely votes on legislation.  But yesterday Boehner expressed his support by voting for the bill.
What a difference a year makes!
Ninety days ago Speaker Boehner and his Republican caucus orchestrated a 16 day government shutdown that furloughed 800,000 government employees and sucked $24 never to be replaced billion dollars out of our economy.  The reason given was that the proposed spending bill funded Obamacare and failed to address the major causes of our debt and deficit…Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
Yesterday Speaker Boehner and his Republican caucus voted FOR a spending bill that funds Obamacare and fails to address the major causes of our debt and deficit…Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
So what happened between October of 2013 and January of 2014 that caused such an abrupt change of heart?
That would be the 2014 mid-term elections.
Rule #1 in politics…never allow your principles to stand in the way of your prospects for election.
