Courting the Women Vote?

The sequestration cuts go into effect at midnight tonight.  But we’re tired of talking about it.  Nobody in Washington seems to care so why should we.
Perhaps more interesting is a piece of legislation that DID manage to clear both chambers of congress.
The House finally renewed the Violence Against Women Act with 199 democrats joining 87 Republicans in support.  138 Republicans voted against the bill which passed through the Senate last month.
To repeat…138 Republicans voted against the bill!
House Republicans had offered an alternative bill last week.  But that alternative failed to muster enough votes because it did not include protections for… gay, bi-sexual or transgender victims of abuse.  It also stripped out certain provisions for American Indian women living on reservations!!!
Wow!
